About Louise

Art has always been an interest of mine. My introduction to art came as a child taking art classes on Saturday mornings learning to draw my favorite cartoon characters. It always amazed me how drawing a picture and adding color created something with a life and meaning all its own. It continues to amaze me. 

I graduated with a degree in Fine Arts and continued my education gaining a Masters degree in Education and Guidance Counseling.   Life for me went in a variety of directions; I married, had two sons, had a career as a school guidance counselor and helped my husband develop a family business. My art was placed on hold for the next 40 plus years. 

Fast forward to 2017, retired and having plenty of time to pursue my love of art I began classes in pastel painting. 

I have fallen in love and gain a great deal of joy with the incredible variety of pastel brands, papers, surfaces and deliciously rich colors. Pastel is a lovely medium applied often to a sanded paper or board. My inspirations come from other artists, nature and everyday life.
